Razzak Appointed HP Spin Coach

Former Bangladesh international cricketer Abdur Razzak has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of the High Performance (HP) unit of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), according to a confirmed source within the board. He will commence his duties next month during the series against Zimbabwe “A”.

The appointment marks a new professional phase for Razzak, who retired from all forms of competitive cricket in 2021. Following his retirement, he served in the BCB selection panel for more than four years, contributing to team selection processes during that period. He also completed a Level Three coaching course last year, further strengthening his coaching qualifications.

Razzak previously served under the administration led by Aminul Islam Bulbul within the Bangladesh Cricket Board structure. After changes in the board’s composition, he has now transitioned into a coaching role within the HP programme.

The BCB’s High Performance unit is designed to develop emerging cricketers for future international duties, providing structured training across batting, bowling, and fielding disciplines. The unit operates with a group of specialist coaches responsible for specific skill areas.

The current coaching structure of the HP unit for the upcoming season is as follows:

RoleCoach
Senior Assistant CoachSalahuddin
Batting CoachSohel Islam
Batting CoachTushar Imran
Spin Bowling CoachAbdur Razzak
Bowling CoachColin Miller
Fielding CoachRajin Saleh
Fitness CoachTalha Jubair

Alongside Razzak’s appointment, the BCB continues to maintain continuity in its coaching framework. The senior assistant coaching role is held by Salahuddin, who is expected to oversee coordination of the HP programme in the next season.

Other coaching appointments include Sohel Islam and Tushar Imran as batting coaches, Colin Miller as bowling coach, Rajin Saleh in charge of fielding, and Talha Jubair responsible for fitness training.

Razzak’s involvement is expected to begin with the preparation phase ahead of the Zimbabwe “A” series, which will serve as the first competitive assignment for the HP unit under the updated coaching structure. His role will focus specifically on developing spin bowlers within the programme, working with emerging players identified for long-term progression into Bangladesh’s senior cricket setup.

The HP programme remains a central component of the Bangladesh Cricket Board development pathway, bridging the gap between domestic cricket and international representation.
