Pakistan’s Bangladesh Tour Faces Possible Delay

The Pakistan cricket team’s much-anticipated tour of Bangladesh may be postponed due to a clash with the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 11th PSL season will run from 26 March to 3 May, presenting a potential overlap with the previously planned Bangladesh tour.

The Future Tours Programme had scheduled Pakistan to play a comprehensive series in Bangladesh next year, featuring two Test matches as part of the ICC World Test Championship, three ODIs, and three T20Is. The tour would showcase the talents of captain Babar Azam alongside star players such as Salman Ali Agar.

Reports from Geo Super suggest that the tour schedule may be revised to accommodate the PSL. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the official PSL fixtures recently, prompting discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. “The series is expected to take place at a new time. Both boards are negotiating the details,” a BCB source revealed.

Despite potential changes in timing, the series format will remain unchanged. “The number of matches will not be reduced. ODIs and T20Is may be rearranged, but the tour will retain its full schedule,” the source added. Official confirmation will follow once discussions conclude.

PSL started in 2016 with five franchises and expanded to six teams in 2018. The upcoming season will introduce two additional teams, marking the league’s largest expansion to date.

In the meantime, Bangladesh cricket will turn its attention to the domestic T20 competition, the BPL, which kicks off on 26 December. The tournament will serve as essential preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup, giving players competitive match practice.

Fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement, which will clarify the revised tour schedule while ensuring the Pakistan team has sufficient preparation time ahead of their fixtures in Bangladesh.
