Bangladesh Players Rise in T20 Rankings

Bangladesh’s recent performances in the T20I series against New Zealand have been reflected in the latest ICC rankings, with several players making measurable progress across both batting and bowling categories.

The three-match series, in which the second match was abandoned due to rain, saw middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy deliver a consistent showing. He scored a total of 84 runs across two innings, including a half-century in the opening match and 33 runs in the third fixture. On the basis of this performance, he was named Player of the Series. Subsequently, Hridoy has climbed two places in the ICC T20I batting rankings and now occupies the 37th position.

Bangladesh captain Litton Das has also recorded an improvement. His 26-run contribution in the final match of the series in Mirpur helped him move up one place in the rankings. He is currently ranked 52nd among T20I batters. At the top of the batting rankings remains India’s opener Abhishek Sharma, who continues to hold the leading position.

Bangladesh’s bowlers, who delivered disciplined performances during the series, have similarly benefited in the rankings. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz has advanced by one place to 17th in the T20I bowling rankings. His consistent control and effectiveness contributed to this improvement.

The most notable gain among Bangladesh players has been made by left-arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam. He has risen nine places to reach 54th in the rankings. His ability to secure breakthroughs at crucial stages of the series, combined with economical bowling, played a key role in this significant rise.

In contrast, left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman has slipped one position to 12th, primarily due to his absence from the series against New Zealand.

Among New Zealand players, fast bowler Ben Sears has made notable progress, climbing ten places to reach 51st in the rankings. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has also moved up four places to 88th. Sodhi’s overall T20I record now includes 165 wickets, making him New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker in the format.
