Dhaka Premier League Dates Announced

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the tentative schedule for the upcoming Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, marking the resumption of competitive domestic cricket following a period of disruption. According to an official press release, the league is expected to commence on 4 May and conclude on 11 June, subject to final confirmation. The detailed fixture list is to be published shortly.

The announcement follows the earlier completion of the player transfer process, which had proceeded despite uncertainty surrounding the competition. Previously, most Dhaka-based cricket clubs had declined to participate in tournaments managed by under the board led by Aminul Islam. As a result, participation in both the First Division and Second Division competitions had been incomplete. The same موقف extended to the Premier League, preventing it from starting as scheduled.

The situation changed after the replacement of Aminul Islam’s board with an ad hoc committee at the BCB. This administrative adjustment resolved the impasse, and all clubs have now agreed to take part in the Premier Division League.

In response to demands from both players and clubs, the BCB has introduced several logistical improvements for the upcoming season. The board will provide transport and meals for clubs on matchdays. In addition, specialised ambulance services will be stationed at all ম্যাচ venues to ensure medical preparedness. Each round of fixtures will be followed by a two-day interval, comprising one rest day and one reserve day, the latter intended to mitigate disruptions caused by rain during the monsoon period.

Matches in this edition of the league will be staged across six venues. These include BKSP Grounds No. 3 and 4, the Cricketers Academy Ground, Bashundhara Sports City Ground, PKSP Ground No. 2, and the ULAB University Ground. According to BCB sources, some fixtures may also be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur if scheduling permits.

As per prior decisions, the competition will follow a single-league format, with no Super League phase. However, a relegation league will be held among the bottom three teams in the standings. From this group, two teams will be relegated to the First Division for the subsequent season.
