In a potential IPL shocker, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly exploring a trade involving three high-profile players — Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Sanju Samson. According to industry sources, this swap could dramatically reshape both teams for the upcoming 2025 season.
Under the proposed plan, CSK could send Jadeja and Curran to Rajasthan in exchange for Samson, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter. While nothing is official yet, both franchises are said to have initiated preliminary agreements, and all three players have given their consent.
Approval Still Needed
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has yet to receive formal notice. A senior BCCI source stated:
“We have not officially received any request regarding this trade.”
The usual IPL trade procedure can take up to 48 hours, during which franchises negotiate salaries and obtain NOCs for foreign players. As Sam Curran is an England international, the ECB’s approval is also required.
Player Salaries and Contracts
If the deal goes through, salaries would likely remain consistent with the players’ retained figures: Jadeja and Samson at ₹18 crore each, and Curran at ₹2.4 crore. Initially, Rajasthan had requested Dewald Brevis, but talks pivoted to Curran when CSK declined the offer.
Career Highlights and Connections
Sanju Samson has been a cornerstone for Rajasthan for over a decade, while Jadeja has been central to CSK’s success since 2012. Notably, Jadeja started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals, winning the inaugural IPL title in 2008.
Sam Curran has had a journeyman-like IPL career, moving between Punjab Kings and CSK, establishing himself as a key all-rounder.
The potential swap would be historic: Jadeja and Curran bringing balance and firepower to Rajasthan, while Samson could strengthen CSK’s batting depth. The cricketing world eagerly anticipates BCCI’s decision, which could redefine team strategies for the 2025 IPL season.
