In a significant blow to the United States’ cricketing ambitions, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the provisional suspension of marquee batsman Aaron Jones. The 31-year-old has been charged with five breaches of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code, a development that effectively sidelines him just weeks before the commencement of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Jones was currently participating in a high-intensity training camp in Sri Lanka, where the 18-man US squad was being pruned down to a final 15-player roster. Nature of the Allegations
The ICC revealed that the charges primarily stem from the ‘Beam-10’ tournament held in Barbados during the 2023-24 season, sanctioned by Cricket West Indies (CWI). However, the investigation has broader implications, as two of the five charges pertain directly to international matches.
