Bangladesh Record Historic Four-Test Winning Streak

Bangladesh have achieved their longest winning run in Test cricket history after securing a series victory over Pakistan in Sylhet on Wednesday. The triumph means Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side have now won four consecutive Tests for the first time since gaining Test status in 2000.

Before August 2024, Bangladesh had never defeated Pakistan in a Test match, either at home or away. In 13 previous Tests against Pakistan, Bangladesh’s best result had been a solitary draw, while they lost the remaining 12 matches.

That record changed dramatically during Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in August 2024. The visitors claimed victories by 10 wickets and six wickets respectively in Rawalpindi, sealing their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan and completing a historic whitewash away from home.

Bangladesh have now extended that dominance by winning both matches of the latest home Test series against Pakistan. In Mirpur earlier this month, Bangladesh secured a 104-run victory before completing the series with a 78-run win in Sylhet on Wednesday.

The four consecutive victories over Pakistan represent Bangladesh’s longest winning streak against any opponent in Test cricket. It is also the first time Bangladesh have managed four successive Test wins overall.

Previously, Bangladesh’s best sequence had been three consecutive Test victories. They first achieved that mark in 2018 against Zimbabwe and the West Indies. The team matched it again in 2023 with victories over New Zealand, Afghanistan and Ireland.

Bangladesh’s current streak began in November 2025 during their home series against Ireland. They won the opening Test by an innings and 47 runs before recording a 217-run victory in the second match. Those results were followed by the two victories against Pakistan this month.

Bangladesh’s recent improvement has come after a mixed run of results following the Rawalpindi triumphs in 2024. After defeating Pakistan away from home, Bangladesh lost 2-0 in India and were later beaten by the same margin at home by South Africa. They then drew 1-1 away to the West Indies before sharing another 1-1 result with Zimbabwe in Bangladesh. Prior to the current home series against Pakistan, Bangladesh also lost a two-Test series in Sri Lanka by a 1-0 margin.

Despite those setbacks, the latest series win has marked another milestone for Bangladesh’s Test side and strengthened their growing record against Pakistan.
