Sri Lanka Women secured a 2–1 series victory over Bangladesh Women by winning the third and final One Day International by seven wickets at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. Despite falling short of a maiden international century, Hasini Perera’s innings proved decisive in guiding her side to a successful chase and series triumph.
Bangladesh, having won the opening match of the three-match series, were unable to maintain momentum as Sri Lanka claimed the final two fixtures. This result also marked Sri Lanka’s success in the first bilateral ODI series between the two sides.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to bat and posted 213 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs, their highest total of the series. The innings was anchored by Sobhana Mostary, who scored 74 runs from 80 deliveries, striking eight boundaries. Captain Nigar Sultana contributed 40 runs, although her innings required 90 balls.
Bangladesh’s top order struggled early, losing three wickets for 69 runs. A fourth-wicket partnership of 65 runs between Sobhana and Nigar stabilised the innings. However, following Nigar’s dismissal, only Ritu Moni offered limited support with a brisk 20 off 16 balls. Sobhana was dismissed on the final delivery of the innings, leaving Bangladesh with a competitive but not imposing total.
In response, Sri Lanka lost an early wicket when captain Chamari Athapaththu was dismissed for 10, caught behind off Marufa Akter with the score at 19. Thereafter, Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani added 108 runs for the second wicket, shifting the balance of the match.
Imesha scored 56 runs from 79 balls, registering her second ODI half-century in just her seventh match. She was eventually dismissed by Marufa, who took a return catch. Perera continued to anchor the innings and later formed a 78-run partnership with Harshitha Samarawickrama.
Perera appeared set for a century but was dismissed for 95, falling just five runs short of the milestone. Despite her dismissal, Sri Lanka remained firmly in control. Harshitha stayed unbeaten on 44 and ensured the target was reached in 46.3 overs with three wickets down.
Perera’s 95 earned her the Player of the Match award, while Imesha Dulani was named Player of the Series for her consistent contributions.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again in a three-match Twenty20 International series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on 28 April, 30 April, and 2 May.
