Kane Williamson’s comeback to New Zealand’s national team did not go as planned. In his return match against England, he was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball he faced.
At Mount Maunganui on Sunday, Williamson came in during the second over with New Zealand chasing 224. Attempting a defensive shot, he edged Brydon Carse’s delivery to Jos Buttler and was out immediately.
It was his first golden duck in ODIs and his fifth in overall international cricket, including three in T20s and one in Tests.
Earlier, Virat Kohli also experienced a golden duck in his comeback match against Australia. Williamson faced a similar challenge in his return.
