West Indies announce T20 squad for New Zealand tour

Following their tour of Bangladesh, the West Indies cricket team will face little respite before embarking on their upcoming tour of New Zealand. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the squad for the T20 series against the Black Caps.

One of the key highlights of the squad is the return of Shamarh Springer, who makes his comeback after a significant break. Additionally, Matthew Ford, who has been sidelined due to injury, returns to the team after a three-month hiatus.

However, there is a notable exclusion from the squad in the form of Gudakesh Motie, who was part of the T20 squad for the series against Bangladesh. The left-arm spinner, who claimed four wickets in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Bangladesh, played just one T20I during the series but has been left out due to poor performances.

The squad for the New Zealand T20 series is as follows:

  • Shai Hope (Captain)

  • Alzarri Joseph

  • Akeem Oglis

  • Roston Chase

  • Matthew Ford

  • Jason Holder

  • Akil Hossain

  • Amir Jangoo

  • Brandon King

  • Khary Pierre

  • Rovman Powell

  • Sherfane Rutherford

  • Jaden Seales

  • Romario Shepherd

  • Shamarh Springer
