Star Pacers Rested For Australia’s Tour Of Bangladesh

Cricket Australia has officially announced its squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, confirming that the high-profile pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood will be rested. The touring party, led by Mitchell Marsh, is scheduled to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in June 2026. The selection panel has opted for a youth-orientated strategy, prioritising emerging talent for the subcontinent conditions.

Squad Composition and Key Absentees

Prior to arriving in Dhaka, the Australian squad will travel to Pakistan for a three-match ODI series. Notably, Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood have also been omitted from the Pakistan leg of the tour. In addition to the frontline seamers, several senior limited-overs specialists have been excluded. Despite being available for T20 selection, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis—both of whom recently retired from the ODI format—were not selected. Steve Smith, who served as a replacement player in the T20 World Cup, has also been left out of the squads.

A segment of the squad will arrive in Bangladesh directly from India following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This group includes Travis Head (Sunrisers Hyderabad), alongside Cooper Connolly, Xavier Bartlett, and Ben Dwarshuis, who represent Punjab Kings.

Detailed Tour Schedule

The series will commence with the ODI leg on 9 June, followed by the T20I series starting on 17 June. All matches are scheduled to take place in Bangladesh.

Cricket Australia has utilised a total of 24 players across the three different series squads. A significant inclusion in the Pakistan ODI squad is Oliver Peake, the captain of the Australia Under-19 team.
