The BPL player auction was held on Sunday at Radisson Hotel, Dhaka. Six teams are participating this season: Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Rangpur Riders, Noakhali Express, Rajshahi Warriors, and Chattogram Royals. This is Noakhali Express’ debut in the tournament.
Last season, Shakib Khan personally attended the auction for Dhaka Capitals. He had said that in the future, the team would be stronger and ready to win.
This season, Dhaka Capitals has again contracted with BCB. However, many discussed King Khan’s absence and the ownership change on Sunday. Franchise sources confirmed that Shakib Khan is not associated with the team this time. Previously, the owner was Remark Harlan; now, Champion Sports owns the team. Shakib has not been involved.
Shakib Khan was a constant topic throughout last BPL. This year, he is absent. No direct comments were received. His company, SK Films, stated that he stepped down from the director role at Remark-Harlan long ago and is no longer connected.
BPL begins on 26 December, with the final on 23 January.
