Rohit Sharma Retains No.1 Spot, Virat Kohli Climbs to Fifth in ICC ODI Rankings

Rohit Sharma has retained his top spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings, holding 781 rating points after a stellar series against Australia. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli made a strong comeback with a solid 74, climbing to the fifth spot in the rankings.

After India’s victory in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, Rohit Sharma has continued his excellent form. He impressed once again in the recent three-match ODI series against Australia, where his leadership and batting skills were on full display.

The series started quietly for Rohit, with just 8 runs in the first ODI. However, he quickly found his rhythm, scoring a fluent 73 runs in the second ODI in Adelaide. His finest knock came in the final ODI in Sydney, where he played an unbeaten 121, leading India to victory and cementing his place as one of the finest limited-overs batsmen in the world.

Rohit Sharma currently holds the top position with 781 rating points, followed by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. India’s new ODI captain Shubman Gill is ranked fourth with 745 points, while Virat Kohli rounds out the top five with 725 points, keeping India’s dominance in the rankings intact.

The series was a mixed bag for Kohli, who struggled in the first two ODIs, registering back-to-back ducks, but he responded with a composed 74 in the third ODI, reminding everyone of his class.

India continues to dominate white-ball cricket, leading both the ODI and T20I team rankings, and they are ranked fourth in the Test format.

With Rohit in sublime form, Kohli regaining his touch, and Shubman Gill rising in stature, India’s batting line-up looks set for continued success in all formats.
