Mustafizur Tops Overseas Base Prices, Shakib Enters IPL Mini Auction

The IPL mini auction on 16 December in Abu Dhabi promises to be one of the most competitive in recent years, with over 1,000 registered players vying for franchise selection. Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan are among the notable entries this year.

Shakib, a nine-season IPL veteran, has been listed with a base price of INR 1 crore. Mustafizur, considered one of the top foreign fast bowlers available, has been set at INR 2 crore, placing him alongside some of the biggest international names in the tournament.

A total of 1,355 players are expected to be part of the mini auction, which spans 13 pages and features stars from Australia, England, South Africa, and other major cricketing nations. High-profile names include Cameron Green, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, and Josh Inglis, while England’s Jonny Bairstow and Jamie Smith, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana are also listed.

Notably absent is Glenn Maxwell, who was released by Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2025.

Among domestic Indian talent, the top names include Mayank Agarwal, K.S. Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Hooda, Akash Deep, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier, and Umesh Yadav. Only Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer feature at the top domestic base price of INR 2 crore.

Alongside Mustafizur, 43 overseas players carry a base price of INR 2 crore, including Green, Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cooper Conolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Inglis, Gas Atkinson, Tom Banton, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Daniel Lawrence, Liam Livingstone, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Enrique Noriega, Pathirana, Mahesh Thikshana, and Hasaranga.

After the retention window closed on 15 November, all ten franchises have a combined budget of INR 237.55 crore for the mini auction, with players from 14 countries participating.
