IPL star Vipraj Nigam has become embroiled in a legal controversy after filing an FIR in Uttar Pradesh, alleging harassment and threats from a woman over her supposed “unreasonable demands.” The cricketer, who represents the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, lodged the formal complaint at the Kotwali Nagar police station in Barabanki district, UP.
In his complaint, Vipraj alleged that he received multiple threatening calls from a mobile number. After blocking the number, he reportedly began receiving calls from several foreign numbers, intensifying the harassment. According to Vipraj, the woman threatened to implicate him in false criminal cases if he did not comply with her demands. Additionally, she allegedly threatened to release a video that could severely damage his public reputation.
The FIR states that the harassment has had a significant impact on Vipraj’s mental health and professional career, prompting him to seek strict legal action. Police confirmed that investigations are underway and that they are examining call logs and digital evidence to verify the claims.
Meanwhile, the woman involved filed a counter statement, claiming that Vipraj personally invited her to a hotel in Sector 135, Noida, around 6 p.m. They reportedly stayed until 9 p.m., during which a physical altercation occurred. She alleges that Vipraj refused to marry her and subsequently pushed her out of the hotel room. The woman also claimed to possess recordings of conversations with Vipraj and his mother, which she says support her innocence.
The case has sparked widespread discussion in the cricket community, with social media users urging the BCCI to intervene. Many have called for action against players accused of misconduct, citing their influence on youth and the league’s reputation.
