India Unveils a ‘Power-Packed’ Squad for U-19 Asia Cup as Ayush Mahatre Takes Charge

The Board of Control for Cricket in India have unveiled their Under-19 Asia Cup squad, and the announcement has already generated considerable debate and excitement throughout the cricket community. The squad features a blend of established age-group performers and dynamic newcomers, indicating that selectors are not only preparing for the Asia Cup, but also looking toward the future pipeline of Indian cricket.

Ayush Mahatre, a technically sound and tactically mature opener, has been named captain. His calm temperament and leadership qualities were among the primary reasons behind his appointment. Supporting him will be vice-captain Behan Malhotra, whose presence adds balance both in batting and leadership responsibilities.

India’s batting structure has been designed with both aggression and stability in mind. Naman Pushpak, Aaron George and Yuvraj Gohil are expected to serve as the backbone of the top and middle order. Vedant Trivedi and Khilan Patel may play the finishing role, providing acceleration during the final overs.

The wicketkeeping department includes two versatile players – Avigyan Kundu and Harbansh Singh – both skilled with the gloves and capable with the bat. This dual-option strategy allows India to adjust according to opposition and pitch conditions.

In the bowling line-up, Henil Patel leads the spin department, supported by Khilan Patel, who brings all-round flexibility. Their role will be crucial on Dubai pitches that traditionally offer grip and turn. The pace unit includes Kishan Kumar Singh, whose final selection depends on an upcoming fitness test. Kanishk Chauhan and Deekshesh will provide further depth in the bowling attack.

India’s fixtures include the highly anticipated match against Pakistan, which traditionally carries a heightened sense of rivalry. The semi-finals are scheduled for 19 December, while the final will be held on 21 December.
