India enter the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in formidable form, setting up a high-stakes clash with Pakistan in the group stage on 15 February at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium.
The defending champions have been in superb T20 rhythm, having defeated Pakistan three times during the Asia Cup in September, including in the tournament final in Dubai. Their momentum continued with a 2–1 series victory over Australia last month, and the team will further sharpen their skills during a five-match T20 series against South Africa in December.
India’s group stage journey begins against the United States on 8 February at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, followed by a fixture against Namibia in Delhi before taking on Pakistan. Their final group-stage game will be held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on 18 February.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India will be aiming to assert their dominance early, sending a clear message to all challengers that they intend to defend their title successfully. The early clash against Pakistan is expected to test India’s nerves and strategic planning, offering an immediate measure of their preparedness for the tournament.
