Parvez Hossain Imon’s participation in the Pakistan Super League has been brought to an early end due to injury, cutting short his stint with Lahore Qalandars midway through the tournament.
The Bangladesh batter had gradually begun to settle into the competition after a subdued start. Representing Lahore Qalandars, he struggled in his opening two appearances but showed clear improvement in his third outing, where he produced a fluent 45-run innings against Multan Sultans. Despite this progress, his overall campaign has now been halted following a shoulder injury sustained during the same match.
The incident took place on 3 April at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore during a fixture against Multan Sultans. Imon injured his shoulder after an on-field collision with Asif Ali while fielding. He immediately required medical attention and left the field as a precaution.
Subsequent medical assessments, including an MRI scan, confirmed a ligament tear in his shoulder. As a result, he has been advised to rest for several weeks, ruling him out for the remainder of the PSL season.
Following confirmation of the diagnosis, Imon addressed the setback through his verified social media page. He expressed disappointment at the premature end to his campaign, noting that he had been looking forward to the opportunity and felt he was beginning to find his rhythm in the tournament. He also conveyed gratitude towards Lahore Qalandars for the opportunity, describing it as his first experience with an overseas franchise team and acknowledging the team environment.
He further thanked supporters and the franchise for their backing, stating that he would continue to follow and support the team for the rest of the season. He concluded his message with a farewell reference to the franchise and expressed hope of returning to competitive cricket soon.
Before his injury, Imon featured in three matches for Lahore Qalandars. While he did not make a notable contribution in his first two innings, he registered a significant performance in his third appearance. Across the three matches, he scored a total of 71 runs at a strike rate of 161.36.
| Matches | Runs | Highest Score | Strike Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 71 | 45 | 161.36 |
His early exit marks a disruption to what had begun as a developmental opportunity in franchise cricket, with his recovery period now set to determine his return to competitive action.
