“Bulbul Denies ACC Job Rumours as False Claims”

Former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has dismissed recent social media speculation suggesting that he has taken up a senior role at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), calling the claims “false” and “bogus”.

The clarification comes amid a period of significant administrative upheaval in Bangladesh cricket. The National Sports Council (NSC) recently formed a five-member inquiry committee to review the latest BCB election process. However, the committee’s report was submitted ahead of schedule, triggering further developments that led to the dissolution of the board led by Bulbul.

Subsequently, the NSC announced an 11-member ad hoc committee to oversee the affairs of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Former national captain Tamim Iqbal was appointed as chairman and has since assumed charge of the organisation’s operational responsibilities.

Against this backdrop, rumours circulated over the past two days on social media claiming that Bulbul had been appointed as the Chairman of Game Development at the Asian Cricket Council on a two-year contract. The speculation quickly gained traction online, prompting widespread discussion within cricketing circles in Bangladesh.

However, Bulbul has firmly rejected these claims. Speaking to Dhaka Post, he categorically denied the reports, stating that there was no truth to the allegations.

“These are completely false and bogus claims,” he said, directly addressing the rumours surrounding his alleged appointment.

At the same time, the former BCB chief confirmed that discussions with the Asian Cricket Council have indeed taken place, though he did not elaborate on their nature or outcome. His comments suggest that while informal or exploratory communication may be ongoing, no official appointment or contractual agreement has been finalised.

The clarification comes at a time when Bangladesh cricket is experiencing a period of transition and uncertainty, with leadership changes at the top level and restructuring efforts underway under the newly formed ad hoc committee headed by Tamim Iqbal.

Observers note that such periods of administrative instability often generate speculation regarding the future roles of senior cricket administrators, particularly those with previous international affiliations. Bulbul’s name, given his prior leadership role at the BCB and his involvement in cricket administration, has frequently been linked with regional cricket governance bodies in the past.

Despite the rumours, there has been no official confirmation from the Asian Cricket Council regarding any new appointment involving Bulbul. As of now, no public documentation or announcement supports the claims circulating on social media.

The episode highlights the growing influence of unverified digital narratives in sports administration discourse, particularly at a time when governance changes in Bangladesh cricket continue to attract intense public and media attention.
