BCB Invites Applications for National Cricket Selectors

For the first time in its history, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has broken tradition by issuing a public advertisement to recruit members for the National Selection Panel. Shifting away from the conventional “closed-door” appointment system, the board is seeking two high-calibre professionals to help shape the future of Bangladesh cricket.

This recruitment drive comes at a pivotal moment. Although his contract officially expired yesterday, the incumbent Chief Selector, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, has agreed to a one-month extension at the board’s request to ensure a smooth transition. It is widely anticipated that the new Chief Selector will be chosen from the successful candidates of this current recruitment cycle.

Strict Eligibility Criteria

The BCB has laid out a rigorous set of qualifications. Aspiration alone is insufficient; candidates must possess a profound pedigree in competitive cricket. While representation at the international level is not a strict requirement, the board demands a significant “on-field” history. Specifically, applicants must have played a combined minimum of 100 matches across First-Class and List ‘A’ cricket.

Beyond playing statistics, the BCB is looking for strategic thinkers who possess:

  • Modern Cricket Literacy: A deep understanding of the tactical evolutions across Test, ODI, and T20I formats.

  • Analytical Prowess: The ability to interpret complex performance data and scouting reports.

  • Leadership & Integrity: Unquestionable ethical standards and the decisiveness required for high-pressure selection meetings.

  • Logistical Flexibility: A willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to monitor talent.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities

The role of a national selector extends far beyond simply picking the 15-man squad for a World Cup. The successful candidates will be responsible for the entire talent pipeline of the nation.

Interested candidates who meet the 100-match threshold and possess the requisite analytical skills should email their applications to job@bcbcricket.com. The deadline for submission is 8 March 2026. Following the screening of CVs, the BCB will conduct formal interviews to finalise the appointments.
