BCB Gears Up to Celebrate Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test

Bangladesh star batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is on the brink of a historic milestone in Test cricket. Having played 98 red-ball internationals, he needs just two more matches to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to reach 100 Tests—a landmark for both him and the nation’s cricket history.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced the schedule for the upcoming Test and T20 series against Ireland. The second Test, scheduled for 19 November at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, will mark Mushfiq’s 100th Test. Ireland’s team will arrive on 6 November, while the name of Bangladesh’s Test captain is expected to be confirmed later this week.

The first Test will begin on 11 November at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. BCB has planned special celebrations around the century milestone.

Cricket Operations Chairman Najmul Abedin Fahim said, “Playing 100 Tests is a remarkable achievement. It’s the first in our country, and it deserves a celebration. Not only the board, but cricket fans across the nation will celebrate this historic feat.”

At 38, Mushfiq has amassed 6,328 runs at an average of 38.10, including 12 centuries and 27 fifties. In terms of matches played, former captain Mominul Haque is next with 73 Tests, followed by Shakib Al Hasan (71), Tamim Iqbal (70), and Mohammad Ashraful (61).

Following the Test series, both teams will move to Chattogram for a three-match T20 series at Bir Sreshtho Flight Lt. Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium on 27, 29 November, and 2 December.
