Bangladesh Players Climb Rankings After Series Win

Following a thrilling 2-1 series victory over Pakistan, Bangladesh’s cricket captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has made significant strides in the international One Day International (ODI) rankings. The 28-year-old all-rounder now features in the top ten bowlers and has climbed to second place among ODI all-rounders.

The latest rankings, released today, also highlight substantial progress for series standouts Tanzid Hasan and Nahid Rana, reflecting their impressive performances in the three-match series that concluded on 15 March.

Miraz was particularly notable with the ball, emerging as the most economical bowler of the series. Over 30 overs, he conceded just 3.33 runs per over while claiming five wickets. This consistent performance earned him a nine-place rise in the bowlers’ rankings, placing him seventh overall. In terms of the top ten ODI bowlers, this was the only positional change, with the leading spots occupied by Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, and Keshav Maharaj.

With the bat, Miraz featured in only the second match of the series, where he was dismissed for a single run. Nevertheless, his all-round contributions saw him advance two places to second in the all-rounder rankings, with a rating of 280 points, narrowly ahead of Sikandar Raza, who now has 276 points. Azmatullah Omarzai retains the top spot with 329 points.

Other Bangladesh bowlers also enjoyed notable progress. Taskin Ahmed climbed 12 places to 28th, Mustafizur Rahman jumped 13 spots to 47th, and Nahid Rana surged an impressive 65 places to 98th. Conversely, Rishad experienced a decline, dropping seven places to 68th among bowlers and 13 places to 43rd in the all-rounder rankings.

The batting rankings saw a major boost for opener Tanzid Hasan, who scored 175 runs across three matches, including a century. This performance propelled him up 31 places to 55th. Towhid Hridoy moved up two places to 32nd, the highest-ranking Bangladeshi batsman. The top three positions in the batting charts remain unchanged, held by D’Arcy Mitchell, Virat Kohli, and Ibrahim Zadran.
