The National Sports Council (NSC) of Bangladesh has officially dissolved the current governing body of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), appointing a new 11-member ad hoc committee to oversee the organisation’s operations. Former national team captain Tamim Iqbal has been named as the chairman of this temporary body, which will serve for a three-month tenure. The announcement was made this afternoon at a press conference by Aminul Ehsan, Director of Sports at the NSC.
Prior to the announcement, Aminul Ehsan presented the findings of an investigative committee established by the NSC to review the BCB’s administrative performance. According to him, the investigation revealed several governance and operational deficiencies within the current board, prompting the NSC to take immediate corrective action.
In his address, Aminul Ehsan also confirmed that the decision to dissolve the existing board, chaired by Aminul Islam, has been formally communicated to the International Cricket Council (ICC) via email. The move ensures transparency and adherence to international cricket governance standards.
The ad hoc committee, led by Tamim Iqbal, comprises a mix of former players, sports administrators, and experts tasked with supervising the BCB’s affairs and implementing reforms. The committee members are listed below:
| No. | Member Name | Background / Role |

| 1 | Rashna Imam | Former cricketer and cricket administrator |
| 2 | Mirza Yasir Abbas | Sports organiser |
| 3 | Syed Ibrahim Ahmed | Legal expert and cricket analyst |
| 4 | Israfil Khasru | Sports journalist |

The committee’s mandate includes reviewing all administrative and financial operations of the BCB, scrutinising player selection procedures, overseeing coaching programmes, and recommending long-term strategies for cricket development across Bangladesh. Within the three-month period, it is expected to provide detailed recommendations for restructuring the board to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
Experts suggest that Tamim Iqbal’s leadership could bring stability and credibility to the BCB during this transitional phase. His experience as a former national captain and deep understanding of cricket administration are viewed as critical assets in implementing necessary reforms.
The NSC’s intervention and the formation of this ad hoc committee mark a significant step in strengthening governance at Bangladesh Cricket Board, aiming to foster a more professional and effective framework for the country’s cricketing future.
