Another Century for Naim Against Rangpur, Centuries from Mahfizul and Sadikur as Well

Mohammad Naim, who made his first-class debut in 2018, scored his maiden century in 2022. This time, he recorded his fourth first-class century. Playing at the Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground against Rangpur Division, the Mymensingh Division opener made 111 runs off 163 balls. Remarkably, three of Naim’s four first-class centuries have come against Rangpur.

His opening partner, Mahfizul Islam, also reached a century. The former Bangladesh age-level cricketer scored 127 runs off 228 balls. This was Mahfizul’s first century in his eight-match first-class career.

Together, the openers added 220 runs for the first wicket before both were dismissed. At stumps on the opening day of the second round, Mymensingh had reached 281 runs for 2 wickets in 82 overs.

Meanwhile, at the Cox’s Bazar International Stadium, Chattogram Division’s opener Sadikur Rahman also hit a century against Barishal Division. It was the left-hander’s third century in first-class cricket. He scored 122 runs off 174 balls, hitting five sixes. In a 143-run stand for the second wicket, his partner Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 84. Due to poor light, play ended early, with Chattogram finishing the day on 260 for 4 in 71 overs. The two centurions from the previous match, Mahmudul Hasan (35) and Yasir Ali (8), were dismissed cheaply this time.
