Who is Rubaba Doula, the New Director of BCB?

In a significant development, Rubaba Doula, a well-known corporate personality in the country, has been appointed as the new director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The National Sports Council (NSC) confirmed this appointment on Monday. Rubaba is expected to join the BCB board meeting as the newly appointed director by the NSC.

Rubaba Doula is primarily recognised for her corporate expertise. However, she has been actively involved in sports administration for many years. Now, she has expanded her involvement to the cricketing world.

Currently, Rubaba holds the position of Country Managing Director for Oracle Bangladesh. In addition, she oversees Oracle’s operations in Nepal and Bhutan. Prior to this, she held senior roles at Grameenphone and Airtel.

In addition to her corporate career, Rubaba has been deeply engaged in sports administration. She served as the president of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation from 2009 to 2015. Furthermore, she is currently a board member of Special Olympics Bangladesh.

Following the BCB board elections held on October 6, the NSC appointed two new directors— Ishfaq Ahsan and Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashik. However, controversy arose surrounding Ishfaq’s nomination, as it was revealed that he had been associated with the ruling Awami League and had sought party nomination for the Chandpur-2 constituency in the last national election.

Initially, the NSC had announced his removal, but it was later clarified that Ishfaq had resigned voluntarily. Subsequently, Rubaba Doula was appointed in his place.
