Babar Azam made a spectacular return in the decisive match of the series against South Africa. Along with leading the team to victory, he scored a T20 half-century after 18 months. Following such an outstanding performance, Pakistan captain and childhood friend Salman Agha praised him highly. According to Agha, Babar has realized that he needs to learn new things over time, and he is making that effort.
Salman Agha, who played alongside Babar since under-16, said, “You may be a fan of his batting, but I am a fan of Babar’s hard work. The way he prepares, I have never seen anyone else prepare like this in international cricket. Whether he performs or not, his preparation is always perfect.”
In the last T20 match, Babar was seen playing several sweep shots, which are not part of his usual batting style. Agha sees this change as significant. He said, “Babar knows he has to add something new to his game. That sweep shot, which isn’t usually part of his repertoire, brought him many runs. He understands this because he is a great player and knows he needs to take the next step.”
Agha added, “I hope we will see this kind of Babar in the future. Because if he performs, we will definitely win the match. This is a very positive sign for us.”
