Maxwell Makes His Comeback to Australia’s T20 Squad

Australia has already sealed victory in the ODI series against India, with one match still to play. In preparation for the final ODI and the upcoming five-match T20 series, Australia has made several adjustments to its squad lineup.

After a long absence, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell returns to the national team. The experienced campaigner, who injured his wrist during training ahead of the New Zealand tour last September, has recovered fully and will feature in the final three matches of the T20 series against India.

Pacer Ben Dwarshuis, who suffered a calf injury, has been ruled out of the ODI series and the first three T20s but is expected to rejoin the squad for the final two games. Josh Philippe has also been recalled, strengthening Australia’s batting and wicketkeeping options. Among the new inclusions, Mahli Beardman, a 20-year-old fast bowler and former Under-19 international, stands out as a promising young talent.

Beardman has been in superb form in domestic cricket, claiming 12 wickets in four matches for Western Australia with an impressive 5.75 economy rate. His consistent performance has drawn attention as one of Australia’s most exciting upcoming pace prospects.

Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood, and Sean Abbott have been released from white-ball duties to focus on red-ball preparations for the Ashes series, starting November 21. Labuschagne will represent Queensland in the Sheffield Shield fixture against New South Wales at the Gabba. Hazlewood and Abbott will also turn out for New South Wales against Victoria. Hazlewood is set to play the first two T20s, while Abbott — recently recovered from a hand injury — will leave the T20 squad after the third match in Hobart.

There are also a few changes in the final ODI squad. Jack Edwards, the all-rounder from New South Wales, has earned his maiden ODI call-up. Left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann returns after missing the second match, and Josh Inglis rejoins the side following his recovery from a calf injury.
