Sylhet Retains Second Test Venue

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the second and final Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be held in Sylhet, dismissing recent speculation over a possible venue change. The board announced the decision in an official statement issued today.

Despite confirming the venue, the BCB acknowledged concerns surrounding the weather conditions in Sylhet ahead of the match. Adverse weather has remained a key issue in the lead-up to the Test, although the board has decided to proceed with the original schedule.

The second Test is scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 May at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. However, uncertainty remains over uninterrupted play due to forecasts of rain and thunderstorms throughout the five-day fixture.

According to weather forecasting service AccuWeather, thunderstorms and rainfall are expected on each day of the Test match. The forecast has raised concerns about possible interruptions and the overall impact on playing conditions during the series-deciding encounter.

Alongside confirming the venue, the BCB also announced Bangladesh’s squad for the second Test. No changes have been made to the group that featured in the first Test, indicating that the selectors and team management have retained confidence in the existing squad for the concluding match of the series.
