Bangladesh Players Rise in ICC Rankings

Bangladesh’s victory in the One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand has resulted in an increase in the team’s rating points, alongside notable improvements in several players’ individual ICC rankings. The updated rankings, released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), reflect performances from the recently concluded series, which Bangladesh won 2–1.

A significant portion of the progress has been driven by the team’s pace bowlers. Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman collectively claimed 18 wickets during the three-match series, a contribution that has translated into substantial upward movement in the bowling rankings.

Nahid Rana emerged as the most successful among the trio, taking eight wickets across three matches. His performance has propelled him up by 16 places to 48th position. Shoriful Islam, who secured five wickets in the series, has advanced 11 places and is now ranked 28th. Mustafizur Rahman, despite playing only one match, delivered a five-wicket haul, resulting in a 14-place rise to 41st position.

In the batting rankings, Najmul Hossain has also recorded a notable improvement. As the only centurion across both teams in the series, he has moved up 11 places to 32nd position. Litton Das has similarly progressed, climbing 15 places to 65th after accumulating 129 runs in three matches, including one half-century.

All-rounder rankings have also seen movement for Bangladesh. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has advanced to joint third position following his combined contributions of 36 runs and two wickets in the series. He now shares a rating of 275 points with Mohammad Nabi. At the top of the all-rounder rankings remains Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai with 329 rating points, while Sikandar Raza occupies second place with 276 points.

The latest ICC update has also incorporated performances from the first Twenty20 International of the Bangladesh–New Zealand series. Towhid Hridoy, who scored an unbeaten 51 in that match, has risen nine places to 39th in the T20I batting rankings.

The following table summarises the key ranking movements of Bangladesh players:
